Center’s Legends

Indian Museums, ArtifactsDepending on the number of visitors and circumstances a pictographic story belt will be used in the telling of a legend during a visit to the Six Nations Iroquois Cultural Center. This feature has been present since the Center’s inception in the summer of 1954. The Center’s founder, Ray Fadden/Tehanetorens, was the initial lecturer and storyteller. His son, John, and grandson, David, have contributed their skills in these endeavors as well. It is conceded that Ray was the master story teller. On this page are images of the type of story told, and in this case it’s the legend of the Monster Bear. Also shown is a photograph of Ray telling a story.
